Donald Trump releases full “private” letter Melania wrote to Putin

Trump Meets Putin in Alaska: Talks, Letters, and Controversy

On August 15, former U.S. President Donald Trump held a highly publicized meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, aiming to discuss a potential ceasefire in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. The summit drew global attention—not just for its political weight, but because Ukraine, the nation at the heart of the conflict, wasn’t even invited to the table.

After the talks, Trump announced that “great progress” had been made. However, no official ceasefire deal emerged, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy received no formal proposal. What did make headlines was a surprising gesture: Trump personally handed Putin a letter written by former First Lady Melania Trump.

In her message, Melania appealed to Putin’s conscience, urging him to protect the innocence of children caught in the conflict. “In protecting the innocence of these children,” she wrote, “you will do more than serve Russia—you serve humanity itself.”

Reactions to the summit were sharply divided. Reports suggested Russia might only consider a ceasefire if it could retain occupied Ukrainian territories, a demand Kyiv firmly rejects. Critics slammed Trump’s negotiation style, prompting him to fire back on Truth Social, claiming the media would attack him “even if I got Russia to give up Moscow.”

Despite no concrete outcome, Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff maintained the talks brought “real progress,” keeping speculation alive about what comes next in this high-stakes diplomatic gamble.
