Stephen A. Smith Breaks Down in Emotional Tribute After Charlie Kirk Assassination
On his YouTube channel and SiriusXM show, Stephen A. Smith stunned fans by opening not with sports, but with a raw response to the shocking assassination of Charlie Kirk.
Calling the shooting “a horrific thing to see,” Stephen A. condemned those celebrating the tragedy online. “He had two children younger than five years of age. Both were in attendance and saw their father get gunned down. He had a wife who saw her husband get gunned down. That’s what sticks with me,” Smith said.
The ESPN star stressed this wasn’t about politics. “I don’t care what his beliefs were. I care that a man was murdered in front of his family.”
He then tied the moment back to sports: “When the Packers host the Commanders tonight, none of that division will matter. Sports brings us together.”
Smith closed with a call for compassion: “Most of us are better than that. Let’s prove it — and let sports remind us how.”
