Angel Reese’s latest update puts historic Double-Double streak on hold — Sky fans are frustrated

Angel Reese Sidelined by Back Injury as Chicago Sky Struggle

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese faces another setback with a lingering back injury, leaving her out of action with no clear return date. Reese hasn’t played since July 29, when she scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds against the Washington Mystics despite discomfort. She has missed six consecutive games, and head coach Tyler Marsh confirms her status is still “day-to-day.”

“It’s a back issue, and she continues to be evaluated daily,” Marsh said. “She’s a competitor and a fighter, so it’s tough for her not to be on the court, but her health comes first.”

Reese’s sophomore season has been a rollercoaster. After a slow start shooting just 30.9% in the first seven games, she recorded her first triple-double on June 15 and went on an 11-game double-double streak, making history as the first WNBA player with multiple 10+ game streaks. She’s averaging 16.9 points and 13.1 rebounds on 50.9% shooting and earned her second All-Star selection.

Without Reese, the Sky are 8-23 and 7½ games out of a playoff spot. While her return is uncertain, Reese remains the team’s cornerstone, and her health will be critical for Chicago’s future.
