‘Wheel of Fortune’ Sparks Controversy After Denying Contestant’s ‘Correct’ Answer To Puzzle

Ryan Seacrest Faces Backlash Over Wheel of Fortune Puzzle Controversy

Ryan Seacrest’s first season hosting Wheel of Fortune has largely been well received, but a December 5th episode sparked heated debate among fans. The controversy centered on contestant Jenn Walker, who correctly solved a puzzle but was denied the $2,000 prize due to a technicality.

During the triple toss-up round, Clint guessed “Well-Seasoned Meal” incorrectly, while Adrianne faltered with “Well…” leaving Jenn as the last eligible player. Seacrest encouraged her to “take your time,” and she confidently solved with “Well-Balanced Meal.” However, instead of celebrating, Seacrest abruptly declared, “Buzzer!”—explaining that Jenn failed to hit her buzzer before answering.

Producers ultimately upheld the ruling, disqualifying Jenn despite her being the only contestant left. Fans quickly voiced outrage online, with many calling the decision unfair. One wrote, “She was the only one left—why should she buzz in?”

While Clint went on to win $26,150, Jenn finished with $20,490. Seacrest’s handling of the situation has fueled criticism, adding to earlier missteps since replacing longtime host Pat Sajak.
