The White House’s Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt faced backlash after she boasted about a makeover of the building’s West Wing in a post on X.
In the post she shared a news article about the The Presidential Walk of Fame which features black-and-white portraits of presidents in gold frames, which can be seen along the colonnade. All former US leaders’ portraits are featured apart from Joe Biden, who is represented by a photo of an autopen.
Trump’s cruel dig at his predecessor, who is battling an aggressive form of prostate cancer, comes after he previously repeatedly claimed without providing evidence that Biden administration officials may have forged Biden’s signature by using the autopen. He has also claimed officials made have made key decisions Biden was not aware of and accused them of treason.
Many people rushed to the comment section of Leavitt’s post to hit out at Trump over him trolling Biden. One person wrote, “As someone who voted for Trump, let me tell u that this extremely despicable and classless. A second said, “I feel like we are in high school. It was funny as a passing joke, but this is just stupid and petty. The WH should hold itself to a higher standard.”

A third wrote, “What a terrible example to be set for the children of this country. The President should be ashamed of himself.”
A fourth person added, “And you’re proud of this? Does this show class? Reflect your ‘Christian values’? Discourage hate? Your WH is run by a bunch of high school ‘mean girls’. it’s pathetic.”
In June, Trump ordered an investigation into his actions and autopen use in a memorandum that cites Biden’s “cognitive decline.” Biden later dismissed the suggestions in a statement, saying, “Let me be clear: I made the decisions during my presidency. I made the decisions about the pardons, executive orders, legislation, and proclamations. Any suggestion that I didn’t is ridiculous and false.”
Trump previously suggested that a photo of an autopen image would replace his predecessor’s portrait. He mentioned his plans in an interview with The Daily Caller, saying, “We’ll put up a picture of the autopen.”
Trump’s memo also called on the counsel to the president to probe whether “certain individuals conspired to deceive the public about Biden’s mental state and unconstitutionally exercise the authorities and responsibilities of the President.” It also orders that the investigation include “any activity, coordinated or otherwise, to purposefully shield the public from information regarding Biden’s mental and physical health” and “any agreements between Biden’s aides to cooperatively and falsely deem recorded videos of the President’s cognitive inability as fake.”

The President has also called for a review of “the policy documents for which the autopen was used, including clemency grants, Executive Orders, Presidential memoranda, or other Presidential policy decisions.” Biden’s advisers have denied they made efforts to conceal his deteriorating health condition from the public during the final years of his presidency.
Speaking to reporters on Air Force One back in March, Trump said he rarely uses an autopen. He added: “I mean, we may use it, as an example, to send some young person a letter, because it’s nice. … But to sign pardons and all of the things that (Biden) signed with an autopen is disgraceful.”
